The UU Church in Media Working Hard to Save PA's General Assistance fund

This just in from Mardys Leeper at the UU Church of Delaware County. They have great support from their minister, the Rev. Peter Friedrichs, who is part of UUPLAN. Rain Didn't Dampen UU Spirits in Harrisburg Monday

    You may have heard the Senate Appropriations Committee voted tonight to pass Gov. Corbett's budget and added $500 million to it. But that didn't include any of the $300 million for cash assistance. The vote could come up as soon as tomorrow for the entire Senate. The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Senate Democrats will make another effort to put $150 million back in for cash assistance. Please…

May 7th General Assistance Rally in Harrisburg: Can You Make It?

Hi All: UUPLAN has heard from our sister organization PA Cares for All that they are set for a protest at the State Capital on the morning of May 7th to make clear how important the $300 million General Assistance fund is to thousands of needy Pennsylvanians. Without this valuable safety net, many are likely to fall further into poverty and homelessness.
